RYO Arena keeps every participant synchronized on the exact same chart using a server-issued start timestamp and random seed. All players hit the identical note stream simultaneously while the server tracks live score progression and health states.
Quick match
Selecting QUICK MATCH places you in an automated queue paired with opponents of similar skill. If the matchmaker does not find a human opponent within a few seconds, the server inserts an AI opponent into the lobby. AI players use the exact same health gauge physics and timing constraints as human players, allowing you to practice competitive play without waiting.
Custom rooms
You can create or join private multiplayer lobbies from the arena menu:
- Custom rooms hold up to 8 active players in addition to live spectators.
- The room host selects the song, difficulty tier, and match modifiers such as mirror or hard gauge.
- Only charts available to all participants can be picked. This includes built-in game tracks and shared osu! beatmap sets.
- Room hosts can distribute direct invite links formatted as
play.rhythmio.net/room/CODE.
Modifiers and player settings
The room host establishes global match rules, including lane modifiers and difficulty locks. Personal player preferences like scroll speed, key bindings, and lane dimming remain individual and do not alter match parameters for other participants.
Match rules and disconnects
- A round requires at least two participants. If all opponents leave before the track begins, the lobby returns to standby.
- Leaving during the pre-song countdown is disabled. Use the exit room button in the lobby before the match starts instead.
- Disconnecting or closing the browser window mid-match registers an automatic FAILED record on the round scoreboard.
- When your health gauge drops to zero during a match, your stats lock immediately as FAILED. The client lets you continue playing through the remaining notes, but your official match submission preserves the failure timestamp.
Match verification
After each round, client game states are verified against the chart note count and the 1,000,000 score ceiling. Irregular payloads or manipulated timestamps are rejected by the server before leaderboards update.
